Where is Turtle Island.

Jul 16, 2008 in Where

1909024399.jpgMay be the answer below also give you the reason for the name Turtle Island apart from telling you where it is located.

Turtle Island is a small island in Lake Erie. It derived its name for Little Turtle, a leader of the Miami tribe in the Northwest Indian War in the late 18th century.

Here is another reason for its name as was published in Times of India.

“The Turtle Island, located about 10 kms off the coast of Toucheng in Yilan County (Taiwan), has a volcanic terrain that, from certain angles, looks like a turtle floating in the sea. Hence, it is known as Turtle Island. Among the features of the island are high cliffs, steaming fumaroles (an opening in a volcano), welling underwater hot springs, mountain peaks, sea-eroded caves, a lake and unique cliff vegetation as well as rich marine ecological resources.

Hey, I think there is an ambiguity here. It seems there are Turtle Islands in different location.

Butterfly gardens-where are they?

Apr 12, 2008 in Where

Name one person who doesn’t like to watch butterflies!

My husband has seen a rare blue butterfly in our terrace and daily when he was about to call me to watch it, the butterfly would fly away. I never knew butterflies are shy of women!

My husband assured me that he will take me to a butterfly garden one day. Butterfly gardens-where are they? I have not heard about butterfly garden till date.

My husband told that there is one in our state itself near a place called Kutralam, the famous water falls place.

If you are in Canada, I have information on a butterfly garden. Victoria Butterfly Gardens is centrally located on the beautiful Saanich Peninsula, 20 km (14 miles) north of Victoria and 19 km (12 miles) south of the Vancouver-Victoria ferry at Swartz Bay. The Victoria International Airport is located close by, as is the Ferry from Anacortes, Washington.

Here is a map copied from the website Butterfly Gardens.
