What is a Red Penny?
There are different versions and stories about the famous (?) Red Penny. I am sure the Indians don’t like it because the Red Penny is also called the Indian Head Penny.
The legend says that The Indian Head penny was first printed in the United States from 1859 to 1909 in Philadelphia. It was a one-cent coin but with a different design when compared to the modern coin.
On one side the coin has the Liberty head wearing a Native American headdress, with the word Liberty within the headdress, as it is required to appear on all United States coinage. On the other side are the words One Cent, with the shield of the United States.
Now, take another look at the image here.

Do you recognize the image? You might have seen the image in the British postage stamps in the colonial era. I used to have plenty of them when I was only 5 years old.
