Why was Socrates killed?
Thinkers were killed by kings when the civilization itself was not fully evolved and the majority of humans derived pleasure from doing harm to others. Those were the days when only the power of the muscle was considered supreme and those who did more barbaric act was feared by all and naturally bestowed respect on them.
Socrates was a thinking man. Personally, I never happen to read his doctrines but I read what is accused of.
“‘Socrates is an evil-doer, and a curious person, who searches into things under the earth and in heaven, and he makes the worse appear the better cause; and he teaches the aforesaid doctrines to others.”
Today I got to read the discussion between Socrates, Euthyphro and Meletus in “The Trial and Death of Socrates“
I like the language used in that book.
